Principal Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary: £50-60k per annum
Location: Stevenage (or Bristol)
Working: Hybrid (3-4 days on site)
Clearance: SC eligibility
What you will need
* British nationality and SC clearance eligible
* Significant experience in mechanical design and development
* Ability to lead design work packages within multidisciplinary teams
* Awareness of proving and qualification activities to meet requirements
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the development of mechanical solutions across complex systems.
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects from concept to production.
* Applying robust design techniques such as DFMEA, DFA, and DFM.
* Engaging with suppliers and stakeholders to influence design outcomes.
* Supporting compliance, proving, and qualification activities.
* Contributing to structural, thermal, or dynamic analysis as needed.
Your experience
* Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Extensive mechanical design experience in complex systems.
* Strong 3D CAD/CAE skills (training on preferred tools provided).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to influence effectively.
* Experience of supplier engagement and multi-cultural team collaboration.
* Calm, professional, and able to prioritise multiple tasks.
