About the Opportunity
We are recruiting an experienced Technical Author to support a regulated site based in Cumbria on a 12–18 month contract. This is an opportunity to contribute to safety-critical work within the UK nuclear sector, supporting long-term operations through high-quality, compliant technical documentation.
This role sits within a highly regulated environment and requires a strong on-site presence. Unlike a traditional technical author position, the successful candidate will play a more proactive role in validation activities and provide input into risk assessment processes, working closely with engineering, operations, and safety teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Producing, reviewing, and supporting the delivery of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals
Playing an active role in the validation of technical documentation, ensuring accuracy, usability, and compliance
Providing input into risk assessment activities, supporting safe and compliant operational outcomes
Working closely with engineers, operators, and safety professionals to gather and validate technical information
Ensuring documentation aligns with nuclear regulatory standards, site requirements, and quality processes
Supporting continuous improvement of documentation practices within a regulated nuclear environmentWhat You’ll Need
Proven experience as a Technical Author within the nuclear industry (essential)
Experience working on regulated nuclear sites
Strong understanding of document control, validation, and lifecycle management
Ability to engage confidently with multidisciplinary technical and operational teams
High attention to detail and a methodical, quality-driven approach
Willingness and ability to work on site Monday to Friday (37 hours per week)Desirable
SC Clearance (or willing to obtain)
Experience contributing to or supporting risk assessment processes
