About the role
We seek an experienced Construction and Commercial Director to lead Churchill’s construction programme across the Eastern region.
Your role involves maximizing the effectiveness of the commercial functions, including quantity surveying, estimating, procurement, and material buying. You will oversee our 3-year build programme, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards.
Key responsibilities include:
* Driving operational delivery strategies for both commercial and construction functions.
* Preparing budgets, project plans, and schedules.
* Monitoring costs and progress, producing reports.
* Leading and motivating the team to meet project budgets while adhering to policies and compliance.
* Providing guidance and sharing expertise to support team development.
You will make key decisions daily to ensure departmental efficiency and handle significant financial responsibilities through forecasts and budgets.
The team plays a crucial role in the region’s success, delivering high-quality developments efficiently. The role offers a fast-paced environment that will challenge your creativity and commercial skills.
Working hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Thursday, and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, with an hour for lunch.
About you
Ideal candidates will have proven senior experience within the housebuilding industry, with expertise in commercial or construction functions. You should possess a relevant degree (minimum HND) and thorough knowledge of current building regulations, construction methods, and products.
Knowledge of Modern Methods of Construction, Construction Law, and Health & Safety is desirable. Previous housebuilding and contracting experience is preferred.
The successful candidate will be decisive, organized, and methodical, with strong communication skills, initiative, and proficiency in report preparation and Excel. Leadership skills to influence, challenge, and develop teams are essential.
