An excellent opportunity has become available for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established and highly regarded small animal practice in Ipswich.
This is a fantastic role offering a combination of clinical variety, strong team support, and excellent worklife balance, ideal for a veterinary surgeon with 23 years' experience looking to develop further within a progressive practice.
About the Practice
The practice is a modern, purpose-built small animal clinic equipped to a high standard, delivering a wide range of medical and surgical services to a loyal and growing client base.
Facilities include:
1. Digital X-ray
2. Ultrasound
3. Endoscopy
4. In-house laboratory
5. Dedicated operating theatre
6. Separate dog, cat, and exotics wards
The practice manages a diverse caseload, including routine procedures and more advanced surgeries such as:
7. Exploratory laparotomies and complex soft tissue surgeries
8. Orthopaedic procedures including BOAS and TTA
9. Advanced diagnostics supported by a visiting internal medicine specialist
A strong focus is placed on in-house case workups and clinical development, providing excellent learning opportunities.
The Team
You will be joining a supportive and collaborative clinical team consisting of:
10. 5 Veterinary Surgeons, including experienced leadership
11. 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses
12. A Student Veterinary Nurse and Veterinary Care Assistant
13. Dedicated non-clinical support staff
The team culture is highly collaborative, with regular case discussions, knowledge sharing, and a genuine emphasis on continuous improvement and professional growth.
The Role
This is a well-rounded GP role offering a balance of consultations and surgery, with exposure to a varied and interesting caseload.
Key responsibilities include:
14. Delivering high standards of patient and client care
15. Managing both medical and surgical cases
16. Working cases up to a high standard with full clinical support
17. Contributing to a positive and team-focused working environment
This role is ideal for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys variety and autonomy, while still benefiting from a strong support network.
Working Pattern
18. Full-time or part-time considered
19. 4-day working week (full-time)
20. 1 in 3 Saturdays (with time off in lieu)
21. No out-of-hours or on-call
Flexible working options are available, including the ability to tailor weekday and weekend commitments.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
22. Hold a BVSc or equivalent veterinary degree recognised in the UK
23. Be RCVS registered (or eligible)
24. Have 23 years' small animal experience (preferred)
25. Be confident with routine surgery and consultations
26. Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
27. Have a proactive and enthusiastic approach to clinical work
Salary & Benefits
28. Salary £45,000 £60,000 (DOE)
29. 28 days holiday, rising to 33 days with service
