Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: The Shires – Stretton, Rutland, East Midlands LE15 7GT
Salary: up to £53,200 DOE
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Contract: Permanent (or flexible terms around term‑time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances)
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at The Shires – Stretton. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guiding your practice within an education setting while meeting the requirements of your governing and professional bodies. You will be responsible for holding a Speech and Language Therapy caseload, supported by a designated clinical supervisor and Lead Clinician, and contributing to staff training and consultation as required.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT
* Relevant experience engaging and working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice
* Experience of multidisciplinary working in a range of settings
* Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
* Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgmental skills
* Good communication skills (oral and written)
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Competence in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and how to formulate support plans based on needs profiles
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group
Desirable Criteria
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact an individual’s communication strengths, differences, traits, difficulties and needs profile
* Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication
