Part-Time Social Work Assistant – Area Services Grade: GR3Reporting to: Team Manager About Birmingham Children’s Trust Birmingham Children’s Trust employs around 1,900 staff and manages an operating budget of approximately £200m per year. Job Purpose To provide essential support to social workers in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Birmingham’s most vulnerable children and young people, delivering a high-quality service to children, families, and carers. Key Responsibilities Casework

* Manage an allocated casework role as assigned by the Team Manager or social worker.

Assessments & Interventions

* Collect, accurately record, and critically analyse relevant information using management information systems.
* Take appropriate action to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
* Provide practical day-to-day support to children and their families as directed.

Partnership Working

* Liaise and collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure services are joined-up and achieve optimal outcomes for children and young people.

Case Recording & Reporting

* Maintain accurate records and reports in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
* Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences through written, verbal, and other communication methods.

Development & Accountability

* Take personal responsibility for professional development and reflective practice.
* Keep up-to-date with legislation, court rules, policies, procedures, and best practice.
* Attend team meetings and service reviews, contributing to the team’s outcomes.
* Support the Team Manager with additional duties as required.

Supervision Received

* Supervising Officer: Team Manager
* Level of Supervision: Work within established guidelines; work subject to regular review and scrutiny by supervisor.

* None

Special Conditions

* This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks will be undertaken.
* Birmingham Children’s Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; all staff are expected to share this commitment.
