Following its recent acquisition by SLR, Wardell Armstrong now forms part of a leading global environmental and sustainability consultancy working on projects across the world from over 100 offices. Through continued growth and success, we are looking to recruit Field Archaeologists to support our growing portfolio of projects in the region.
Wardell Armstrong has been providing expert archaeological and heritage services for over 25 years, demonstrating our ability to provide effective and commercially aware advice to a wide range of clients throughout the UK. Our post-excavation hubs in Carlisle and Bury St Edmunds are equipped with facilities for finds analysis, palaeoenvironmental processing, post-excavation analysis, publication, and outreach.
The role
We are seeking a field archaeologist based in Bolton to support our regional projects. Candidates should have at least 3 months of site experience in commercial archaeology; however, we also consider graduates or applicants with equivalent experience and qualifications.
You will work as part of our wider team, with potential assignments on large-scale evaluations and excavations. The role may include geophysics projects if you have relevant experience or are willing to learn. Knowledge of paper-based and digital recording systems is desirable but not essential.
Applicants must be flexible regarding travel and working hours, as our sites are across the UK. We aim to assign staff to local sites whenever possible and offer a competitive subsistence package, travel allowance, and single occupancy accommodation. Work during unsocial hours (10pm – 6am) will be compensated accordingly. When not on site, permanent staff will work from the office or remotely.
