We are a friendly, welcoming unit dedicated to creating positive experiences for women, families, and staff. An exciting opportunity has arisen within our maternity service for a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Midwife, working as part of the Diabetes in Pregnancy multidisciplinary team.
Main Duties
As a Band 6 Diabetes Midwife, you will deliver high-quality, safe midwifery care to women whose pregnancies are complicated by Diabetes. You will develop expertise in diabetes care in pregnancy, managing, developing, and leading care for pregnant women and new mothers with additional needs.
You will provide direct care, support, and coordination with the Diabetes Specialist Lead Midwife, the multidisciplinary team, and external agencies. You will work closely with women and their families to tailor care plans and serve as a resource for diabetes-related knowledge, potentially deputizing for the Band 7 DSM.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Midwifery Degree
* NMC Registered Midwife
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Willingness to undertake relevant courses/training
Experience
* Band 6 midwife experience
* Experience working with pregnant or postpartum women with diabetes
* Skills in care assessment, planning, and evaluation
* Knowledge of diabetes in pregnancy
* Awareness of national and local drivers in diabetes care
