Pertemps Education is seeking a SEN Teacher to join an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Additional Resource Provision (ARP) within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Brixton. This specialist provision supports pupils with complex communication and sensory needs associated with autism, offering a structured and nurturing environment integrated within a broader inclusive school setting.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine impact, teaching a small Year 3/4 class of pupils with additional needs, supported by experienced teaching assistants and a multi-disciplinary team.
Position Details:
Position: SEN Teacher (Year 3/4 – ARP)
Location: Brixton
Start Date: September 2025
Interview Date: Immediate
Salary: M2 – M6 (dependent on experience)
The Role:
Teach a small, well-supported Year 3/4 class of pupils with ASD within the ARP
Deliver individualised and engaging lessons, adapted to pupils’ specific communication and sensory needs
Create a calm, consistent, and supportive classroom environment that promotes emotional regulation and independence
Use autism-specific approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables
Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and mainstream colleagues to support inclusive learning opportunities
Foster pupils' academic progress, social interaction, and self-confidence through structured teaching and personalised support
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience working with pupils with ASD and additional needs, preferably in a primary or specialist provision
Strong understanding of autism-specific teaching methods
A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting behaviour and learning
Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a commitment to inclusive practice
