Job Description
* Ensure the implementation of health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs across all entities within the organisation
* Provide professional advice on health and safety legislation and good practices to the organisation
* Implement the Egis group Health, Safety and Security global policy and strategy and coordinate monthly reporting mechanisms for the group
* Collaborate closely with entity-specific leadership teams to align health and safety goals, strategies, and initiatives with overall business objectives.
* Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, assess their impact, and recommend appropriate control measures.
* Monitor and maintain compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and standards, providing expert advice and guidance to ensure adherence.
* Coordinate thorough training programs to educate employees and contractors on safe working practices, emergency procedures, and hazard identification.
* Lead incident investigations, analyse root causes, and develop corrective and preventive action plans to prevent future occurrences.
* Maintain a robust reporting system to track health and safety performance metrics, providing regular reports and insights to management.
* Foster a culture of safety consciousness by promoting engagement, participation, and accountability across all levels of the organisation.
* Liaise with regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and relevant stakeholders to stay informed about evolving health and safety trends and best practices.
* Drive continuous improvement through the identification of emerging risks and the implementation of innovative solutions to enhance overall safety performance.
* Co-ordinate, manage and mentor a team of health and safety professionals, ensuring their ongoing development and effectiveness in supporting the organisation’s safety objectives.
* Support Sentinel co-ordination and management for our rail business.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
* Professional certifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, are required.
* Extensive experience (at least 7-10 years) in health and safety management, preferably within large matrix organisations with multiple entities.
* Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing health and safety programs that align with complex business structures.
* In-depth knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices.
* Strong analytical skills to assess risks, incidents, and trends, and derive actionable insights for improvement.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and influence positive change.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a keen attention to detail.
* Proficiency in using health and safety management software and tools.
* Prior experience in managing and leading a team of health and safety professionals is a plus.
