Express Recruitment are delighted to be representing a respected and long-standing Midlands-based consultancy in their search for an experienced Lead Civil Engineering Associate to assist their group od Directors in leading their growing Civils Division in Derby. With a reputation for technical excellence and sustainable design, this practice delivers innovative solutions across complex and diverse civil engineering projects, from bespoke new builds to heritage refurbishments.
In this senior role, you will oversee the technical and financial delivery of civil engineering projects, including drainage and highway design. You’ll lead a team of Engineers, manage key client relationships, and contribute to business development alongside the directors. The work is varied, challenging, and offers real opportunities to influence project outcomes.
The ideal candidate will be Chartered (MICE) with at demonstrable post-qualification experience, strong drainage and highways knowledge, and a background in managing both teams and projects. You’ll need a proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills, along with confidence using relevant design software.
The role offers a competitive salary up to £65,000, 33 days' holiday (including bank holidays and Christmas closure), AXA private healthcare, annual profit share, £2,500 chartership reward, and pension scheme. Lead and manage the delivery of civil engineering projects, including highways and drainage design
Manage budgets, project timelines, and ensure technical excellence across all stages
Produce high-quality reports including flood risk assessments and transport statements
Supervise and develop engineers and technicians through effective line management
Proven track record in both technical and financial project delivery
Experience managing and mentoring teams across multiple projects
Strong capability in drainage and highway design software
Proactive and self-motivated with commercial awareness
Full UK driving licence and minimum 2:1 degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
