About this role
We’re looking for someone to join us as a Compliance Business Partner. You’ll be responsible for a diverse range of areas that will support First Line risk owners in understanding compliance risks within their Business Areas and processes, and promote improvements in the quality of associated compliance controls and the delivery of good customer outcomes.
As a Compliance Business Partner supporting the UK Card business, your role will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, superb integrative thinking and problem solving, and a desire to help the business effectively manage compliance risk.

What you’ll do
Support the Head of UK Compliance Advisory and the First Line to fulfil their responsibilities under Capital One’s Compliance Management Policy and ensure company adherence to the Compliance Management Programme.
Reporting to the Compliance Advisory and Reporting Principal Associate, the role involves:
1. Partner with the business to aid their understanding of the Compliance Management Policy, supporting and challenging adherence to the Compliance Management Programme. Key areas of this partnering include:
Applicability: Undertaking Compliance Applicability and Control Reviews, including the performance of On-Demand Applicability Reviews
Compliance Advice: Advising on the identification, assessment, measurement, response, and management of compliance risks
Change Management: Providing compliance advice for changes that navigate the Launch risk assessment process and the Change Board process
Issue and Event Management: Being the Compliance lead on operational loss events and issue management, supporting first line owners, providing advice and regulatory impact assessments
2. Supporting the First Line in the development of strong controls in order to strengthen the effectiveness of the compliance control environment
3. Partner with key stakeholders in the UK Legal department to support the team and the wider business in interpreting and understanding the Compliance obligations the UK business faces
4. Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with business stakeholders in order to influence decisions
5. Working closely with the business and colleagues across UK Legal and UK Compliance to deliver key compliance projects
6. Supporting other compliance-related risk initiatives and risk assessments. This could include Third Party Compliance activity, supporting the delivery of key Compliance reporting, and undertaking the compliance review on selected complaints for compliance and risk management purposes.
What we’re looking for
7. A skilled risk professional with experience of working within financial services and an interest in undertaking risk and control assessments
8. You already hold, or are interested in working towards, a relevant ICA or IRM qualification (e.g. ICA Certificates/Diplomas in Compliance or IRM Certificates/Diplomas in Risk Management)
9. Previous experience of working in a Compliance or Risk Management function
10. Excellent communications skills, the ability to manage competing priorities with a strong focus on delivering results and stakeholder management
11. Curiosity and collaboration to help identify and recommend solutions to improve control suites, mitigation activities and operational processes
12. Resilient and effective at managing your own workload whilst balancing the needs of the team
13. A passion for supporting the business to achieving its goal
Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position and can be based in our Nottingham offices.
We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.
We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
