Resident Graduate Assistant – Music & Performing Arts (with shared responsibility for Boarding and Chorister Chaperoning)
Fixed Term: September 2026 – July 2027
Salary: £15,700 per annum + accommodation and meals (term time)
St George’s School Windsor Castle is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Resident Graduate Assistant (Music & Performing Arts) to join our vibrant community from September 2026.
This is a unique opportunity for a graduate with a passion for music, drama and education to gain extensive experience in a leading prep school set in the exceptional surroundings of Windsor Castle. Living on site and fully immersed in school life, you will play a vital role in boarding, chorister chaperoning and the performing arts department.
About the Role
Our Resident Graduate Assistants are full members of staff who contribute energetically to all aspects of school life. This varied and rewarding post combines three key areas of responsibility:
Boarding Assistant
You will work closely with our Houseparents to provide outstanding pastoral care to boarders, helping to ensure they have a positive and enriching experience.
Responsibilities include:
* Supporting breakfast and supper supervision
* Assisting with evening prep and study
* Organising engaging activities for boarders
* Supervising music practice and supporting drama (LAMDA) preparation
* Contributing to co-curricular activities and fixtures
* Overseeing Breakfast Club
* Maintaining detailed records and reporting pastoral concerns
Graduate Assistants live on site and participate fully in boarding life, including occasional Friday evenings or Saturdays when required.
Chorister Chaperone
All Graduate Assistants share responsibility for accompanying and supporting our Choristers as they fulfil their musical commitments at St George’s Chapel.
This includes:
* Early morning rehearsals
* Daily music support and breakfast supervision
* Evensong and Sunday services
* Supervising rehearsals, snacks and boarding routines
* Supporting concerts, tours and major Chapel events (including Garter Day)
* Chorister “stay- ons ” at Christmas and Easter
This role requires reliability, strong pastoral instincts and the ability to build excellent working relationships with the Boarding and Chapel Music teams.
Music & Performing Arts Assistant
Working closely with the Director of Music, you will support and help lead the school’s dynamic performing arts programme.
Key responsibilities:
* Supporting curriculum music and drama lessons
* Teaching aural and theory to small groups and individuals
* Running at least one ensemble (vocal or instrumental)
* Accompanying students in performances and exams
* Supporting ABRSM and LAMDA preparation
* Assisting with concerts, productions and stage management
* Supporting chorister instrumental practice
* Completing routine administrative tasks
Strong keyboard skills are essential, though this need not be your first instrument.

For the Performing Arts specialism, you will also have:
* High-level aural and theory skills
* Strong keyboard proficiency
* Experience preparing students for performance
* Ability to lead an ensemble
* Good administrative skills
* An interest in music technology and/or musical theatre (desirable)
