Brief Description To deliver the daily local train plan to a high standard and take proactive action to minimise customer disruption. Using train service management resources, deliver an optimum service that meets the differing needs of the rail industry and passengers. About the role (External) Key Accountabilities Provide instruction and guidance to signalling team in liaison with the Train Running Controller (TRC) so that trains over the route infrastructure are run safely and efficiently and a safe and punctual train service is provided. Implement pro-active train regulating decisions, communicating with Signallers and Control as necessary, using service information and Traffic Management systems, interpreting incoming information to identify potential disruption and initiate early action to minimise train delays. During disruptive events, evaluate the train plan to mitigate safety risk and maximise performance in liaison with Control, and provide guidance to Signallers to execute revision(s) to the train plan. During times of disruption, jointly develop service recovery plans with Control to reinstate normal working and minimise reactionary delay for customers and passengers. Maintain a daily log of unusual train running information and events, using available systems in accordance with relevant company standards and instructions to maintain an auditable record of training running events. Collate a library of regularly used available timetable slots and liaise with Control, propose Very Short-Term Plan (VSTP) train movements and assist if required to deliver consistency and optimise the use of available infrastructure. Identify possible solutions to timetable irregularities and proactively work with Train Planning to improve the robustness of the train plan. Monitor the application of Network Rail train regulation policies through guiding or directing the signalling team as required to deliver an optimum service to our customers and passengers. Operate and assist on Signalling Panels or Signal Workstations as required and where competent to do so to provide operational support during times of high workload and/or in times of exceptional circumstances. Liaise with Electrical Control Room Operators and Signallers to assist in implementing block(s) to electric traction and emergency switch offs as required and as directed, to maintain a safe environment for workforce, customers and passengers. Operate as Fire Warden for the Signalling Centre when the Service Delivery Manager is not available.
