Chartered Civil Engineer (Infrastructure) | Edinburgh
Senior or Principal Civil Engineer needed for a growing infrastructure design team. Provide technical leadership and strategic oversight across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects, leading design packages from concept through detailed design and delivery. Work closely with clients, contractors and internal teams to ensure high‑quality, sustainable and buildable engineering solutions that meet both regulatory and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of complex civil and infrastructure design projects across highways, drainage systems, earthworks and associated works.
* Provide technical leadership and mentoring to senior and junior engineers.
* Manage multi‑disciplinary coordination, ensuring design integration and quality assurance.
* Oversee concept design, planning submissions and detailed design deliverables.
* Liaise with clients and statutory authorities to deliver solutions that balance technical, environmental and commercial considerations.
* Support work‑winning activity, proposal development and project strategy.
What you'll need to succeed
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent) with significant post‑qualification experience in infrastructure design and delivery.
* Chartered status with a relevant professional body such as ICE or CIHT.
* Extensive experience leading complex civil engineering design packages, ideally including highways/roads, drainage design and earthworks.
* Strong technical expertise with industry design standards, sustainable drainage principles and modern design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage).
* Excellent project leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to mentor and develop engineering teams while maintaining high technical standards.
