Company Accountant
Location: Ramsgate, Kent
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £45,000 pa, with increase after a probationary period.
Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Company Accountant for immediate start to take full responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive individual who can manage the accounts function end-to-end and ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes. Immediate start available.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the bought ledger, including processing supplier invoices, reconciling statements, and handling payments
* Raise and manage customer invoices, monitor accounts receivable, and follow up on outstanding debts
* Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
* Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly
* Prepare and take accounts through to trial balance
* Process payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and deadlines
* Process subcontractors payments and manage CIS payments, ensuring compliance with CIS regulations
* Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
* Manage cashflows and support financial planning
* Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
* Liaise with external accountants/auditors as required
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls
* Support the business with financial reporting and analysis where necessary
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a similar all-round accounting role
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and processes
* Experience managing payroll
* Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
* Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable:
* AAT qualified or part-qualified or equivalent qualification
* Experience working in a small to medium-sized business environment
