An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded Associate Director of Structural Engineering to join and help grow the Cambridge office. This is a key strategic hire, offering the chance to play a leading role in expanding the business presence across Cambridgeshire, particularly within the fast-growing science, technology, commercial, and mixed-use sectors.
The Role
This position would suit a proactive and technically strong Chartered Structural Engineer who enjoys combining project delivery with business growth and team leadership responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading structural engineering projects from concept through to completion
Managing and mentoring engineers and technicians within the team
Developing new client relationships and identifying opportunities for business growth
Preparing fee proposals and supporting tender submissions
Acting as a key client contact and representing the business at meetings and networking events
Reviewing and approving structural calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and quality procedures
Collaborating with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams across a range of sectors
Candidate Requirements
Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
Chartered status with ICE or IStructE
Significant consultancy experience within structural engineering
Proven experience delivering building and infrastructure projects
Strong commercial awareness and client-facing experience
Experience leading teams and managing project delivery
Proficiency in structural design software such as Tekla and Tedds
Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, and UK Building Regulations
