We have an exciting opportunity to become a part of the Facilities team, working as a Head Chef in Ysbyty Anuerin Bevan Hospital in Ebbw Vale.
The post holder will lead the team responsible for catering duties throughout the operation.
They will ensure the highest standards of catering, hygiene, and safety for Patients, Staff, and Service users.
Please note: driving is essential for this role as travel between Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr and Ysbyty Tri Chwm is required.
Main duties of the job
Ensure the correct and economical use of all food products and materials, following the Catering Guide and the All Wales Menu Framework in recipe preparation and food service.
Adhere to guidelines on portion control and costed recipes as prepared by the Health Board.
Maintain adequate staffing by managing the Health Rostering duty rota, including time off and annual leave, and be responsible for the correct allocation of staff.

Qualifications and knowledge
* Knowledge of a full range of work procedures, practices, and equipment for catering services, including advanced food hygiene; vocational level 3 qualification or equivalent, plus knowledge acquired through training and experience to diploma level in areas such as special diets, health and safety, management.
* Possession of: City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 or equivalent NVQ Level 2 & 3; Advanced Food Hygiene (Level 4); or willingness to study towards these qualifications.
* Menu planning and use of standard recipes.
* Working procedures and practices.
* Organising rotas.
* Purchasing food.
* NEBSS qualification.
Experience
* Previous experience in a catering environment, with an understanding of quality and service standards.
* Knowledge of a full range of work procedures, practices, and equipment for catering services, including advanced food hygiene processes; vocational level 3 qualification or equivalent, plus diploma-level knowledge in areas such as special diets, health and safety, management.
Skills and Attributes
