Service Manager – Residential Child Care

* Location: Doncaster
* Job Type: Full-time
* Salary: £340.86
* Hours: 09:00 - 17:00

About the role:

We are seeking a Service Manager for Residential Child Care to provide strategic leadership and management across our Children's Homes. This role is crucial in ensuring the highest standards of care and security for looked after children and young people, and in making a positive contribution to the leadership of our services.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

* Oversee the operation of residential homes for children, ensuring they meet all statutory requirements.
* Act as the Responsible Individual for children’s homes as required.
* Provide a safe and supportive environment for children, young people, and staff.
* Offer strategic management and professional advice to Residential Homes Managers on statutory and safeguarding matters.
* Ensure the implementation and adherence to action plans, policies, and statutory requirements.
* Manage resources effectively to support the council's priorities and statutory responsibilities within allocated budgets.
* Maintain and develop the infrastructure and security systems of the buildings according to relevant guidelines and standards.
* Establish and maintain effective management and communication systems within the Looked After Children Service.
* Promote staff development through supervision, appraisal, training, and development programmes.
* Ensure compliance with corporate policies and processes and promote good relations with all parts of the council.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

* Must have relevant education in youth work, social care, health care, or a management qualification or degree.
* Substantial experience in management within Children’s Residential Homes or similar settings.
* Strong knowledge of strategy and policy issues relating to Children’s Services.
* Proven ability to think strategically and manage complex budgets and projects.
* Excellent diplomatic and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage internal and external relationships sensitively.
* Ability to meet statutory and safeguarding requirements
* Experience in engaging young people and stakeholders in the planning and development of services.
* Knowledge of the legal and policy framework and best practices for services for young people.
* Enhanced DBS check
