Personal Assistant for Mr. P.
Mr P is a 78-year-old deaf, blind and mute man living in the southside of Glasgow and is looking for a Personal Assistant to help him with day-to-day tasks to live independently. He enjoys boxing, going to the gym and attending mass each week. He is chatty and enjoys talking about football.
You could be visiting places such as ten-pin bowling or Top Golf, as well as the shops to help him find items he is looking for. You’ll basically be his eyes and ears to help him have an overall awareness of his surroundings, and you may occasionally help with household tasks such as preparing dinner and tidying up.
Responsibilities
* Be Mr P’s eyes and ears and assist with day-to-day activities to help him live independently.
* Plan and accompany visits to activities and places (e.g., ten-pin bowling, Top Golf) and assist with shopping to find items he needs.
* Support with occasional household tasks, such as meal preparation and tidying up.
* Provide a positive, upbeat, patient and encouraging presence and help him maintain flexibility in his day.
* Assume driving duties as required to enable mobility and access to activities and appointments.
* Use hands-on British Sign Language to communicate effectively with Mr P.
Qualifications
* Hands-on British Sign Language (BSL) proficiency is essential.
* Ability to drive is essential.
* Upbeat, patient and encouraging attitude with a positive presence.
* Flexibility and reliability to adapt to Mr P’s day-to-day needs.
