EUC Technical SME Role Profile Department Description Digital Operations (part of Infrastructure and cloud) is responsible for delivering the EUC (End User Computing) roadmap, strategy, and standard methodologies ensuring alignment between the EUC program and business-as-usual (BAU) operations. Team Description The VDI Team are entrusted with engineering, supporting, and the adminsistration of all Group VDI infrastructure. As part of the Desktop and Mobile Team, their focus is on proactively delivering and running VDI-related corporate infrastructure for the London Stock Exchange Group. This includes management of various architectural components and services in collaboration with other technology functions within the Infrastructure and Cloud group. Role Description Working with the Manager of VDI Products, the successful candidate will be based in London. This is a technically hands-on and demanding role, centred on the architecture, delivery, and optimization of end-user environments. The candidate will play a key role in delivering a leading employee experience by ensuring access to best-in-class platforms that empower staff to perform at their best. Key Responsibilities Strategy, Planning & Architecture Collaborate with Product Owners across VDI, Desktop & Mobile, Collaboration, and Voice to define and implement strategic change initiatives within Digital Operations. Develop and maintain the EUC technology roadmaps, ensuring they are secure, current, and aligned with evolving business needs. Partner with Group Technology Architecture to ensure all solutions adhere to established delivery methodologies and align with the organization’s architectural roadmaps. Prepare comprehensive architectural documentation for new solutions and present proposals to the appropriate Infrastructure Review Forum for approval. Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies, actively seeking opportunities for continuous learning and skill enhancement. Delivery & Execution Ensure all engineering activities adhere with the Change Lifecycle and align with the organisation’s project delivery methodology. Define and implement processes to monitor and maintain compliance with security and software policies throughout the organization. Be responsible for change control processes, ensuring accurate documentation, data collection, forecasting, and the continuous updating of plans. Handle quality reviews and report on alignment to established standards. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, providing clear and concise updates while keeping management advised of progress. Governance, Compliance & Risk Collaborate with Product Owners to develop and implement remediation plans for audit findings. Ensure that Desktop and Mobile teams follow Group-wide Incident, Problem, and Organisational Change processes. Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks, with a focus on resilience, stability, and risk management. Operational Management & Support Have sight of capacity planning and be responsible for End-of-Life (EOL) and End-of-Support (EOS) tracking across the VDI estate. Work closely with Product Support Teams and the Group Service Desk to continuously enhance customer service and improve the end-user experience. Take ownership of challening technical issues, ensuring timely resolution with clear communication to customers Establish rapport with all customers, consistently setting and meeting end-user expectations. Leadership & Representation Demonstrate strong leadership and team-building abilities, adopting a hands-on, can-do demeanor, and leading by example to mentor and develop less experienced colleagues. Skilled in setting clear objectives, agreeing expectations, and evaluating progress, while considering the impact of changes. Influence IT teams and senior management to make informed, successful decisions. Serve as a key member of the VDI Leadership Team, ensuring compliance with IT standards and supporting IT Controls, Audit, and Compliance requirements. Facilitate effective collaboration with technology teams and business units, ensuring the timely and efficient flow of communication to key customers. Working with global support teams as necessary. Diagnose and resolve system issues promptly, collaborating with vendor support for servers, software, and hardware, either independently or alongside team members. Maintain a high level of attention to detail, building productive and professional relationships with both internal and external customers. Resolve complex or unusual problems by exploring innovative solutions and alternative approaches when conventional methods are not sufficient. Develop practical, realistic plans to meet objectives, demonstrating persistence and a focus on delivery. Continuously work to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Desktop and Mobile teams, adopting and selling an SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) approach to automate processes and reduce manual effort. Supply expertise in delivering capabilities such as Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, SCCM, Application Packaging, Microsoft 365, Standard Operating Environment (SOE), and encryption methods (e.g., BitLocker and Checkpoint) in a VDI infrastructure. Hands-on experience with Windows 365 deployment. Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting to automate tasks and reduce manual efforts. Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), proactively identifying and resolving potential issues before they affect end users, ensuring a shift to a more proactive incident management approach. Validated experience in VDI estate software deployment making use SCCM and Intune (Cloud). A passion for developing user-friendly, well-designed products and services that enhance customer satisfaction. Solid Understanding of agile development methodologies. Knowledge of running and maintaining Cloud VDI infrastructure, specifically in Azure and AWS environments. Demonstrated experience in delivering infrastructure projects, with a focus on service transition and ensuring solutions are fully supportable in a production environment. Experience working in a matrix management organization, collaborating effectively with diverse project delivery teams. Strong relationships with third-party suppliers and vendors. Comprehensive understanding of Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT), Disaster Recovery, and High Availability (HA) in a production environment. In-depth knowledge of Change Management, Incident Management, and Release & Configuration Management processes. Proven track record of successfully delivering medium and large-scale projects, including those of significant technical complexity. Helpful Experience: Exposure to setting up an Azure Eco-System. Experience using products like Ulpath and Power Automate to implement SRE solutions for improved uptime and service status awareness. Delivering projects within the financial services industry, including clearing or investment banking. Experience in project delivery with offshore teams, with a clear understanding of the complexities of collaborating across locations. Part of projects requiring application transitioning.
