Technical Project Manager (Events & Production)
GE Production
Full-time (37.5 hours per week + events hours)
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 + paid day rate for event work + performance bonuses
Location: Biggin Hill office/warehouse + event sites
The Role
This role combines technical design, quoting, and project ownership across high‑end weddings and corporate events. It suits someone who enjoys taking responsibility for projects, shaping how they’re delivered, and ensuring they are commercially and technically sound.
You’ll take ownership of projects from enquiry through to delivery, with a strong focus on quoting, budgeting, and technical planning, while overseeing delivery on site.
We have a strong preference for a lighting technician with design and CAD experience, but we are open to candidates from audio or video backgrounds with a solid understanding of other disciplines.
We’re looking for someone who wants responsibility, progression, and long‑term development within the business.
Key Responsibilities
Project Ownership
* Take ownership of projects from enquiry through to delivery
* Act as the main point of contact for clients on assigned jobs
* Take responsibility for the overall success of each project
Quoting & Budgeting
* Build technical specifications across lighting, audio, video, power and other event tech as required
* Ensure each project is well costed, with a realistic budget for expenses
* Balance creative ambition with realistic delivery
Design & Planning
* Work with creative team to produce eye‑catching design documentation
* Produce CAD drawings, floor plans and visualisations
* Define equipment requirements and system design
* Work with the wider team to ensure plans are practical and deliverable
* Define crew and technician requirements
* Oversee logistics planning (with support from the team)
* Manage onsite delivery of projects during setup, operation, and breakdown
* Manage and meet clients expectations on site
* Support the sales process on larger enquiries
* Contribute to creative proposals and presentations
* Build strong relationships with clients and venues
GE Production’s busiest period is the summer events season and so as part of this role, you will be expected to be regularly available for evening and weekend event work during peak season, especially Saturdays.
All event days are paid separately at an agreed day rate and weekend work is planned in advance wherever possible.
This role is not suited to someone who wants to avoid on‑site delivery and responsibility for live events.
Successful candidates will:
* Have a strong technical background in live events (lighting preferred)
* Be confident building technical specifications and event plans
* Be financially literate and able to balance cost and delivery
* Be comfortable taking ownership of projects and decisions
* Be organised, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
* Be calm under pressure with a friendly and positive outlook. Must be extremely good client facing
* Be motivated to grow within the business
Whilst we will consider a local candidate without one, the ideal candidate will have a full UK Driving License.
Progression
As the business grows, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility, with progression towards senior project management and leadership roles within the company.
