Are you a driven, passionate individual looking for a new challenge? The come and join our fantastic Imaging team as a Higher Level Imaging Assistant!

The post duties are varied and challenging and include providing support to patients, Consultants, Radiographers, Sonographers and other
team members in the Imaging Department before, during and after examinations.

Full training will be given for this post, but a genuine desire to
work within a team providing a high quality of patient care is essential.

Main duties of the job

You will work in the imaging rooms (X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, CT scan and Ultrasound) with colleagues to provide the best possible patient care,
ensuring equipment is available and maintaining accurate patient records in line with information governance.

You will be expected to organize workflow for the area you are working in and assist in minor procedures. You must be a caring person with empathy for your patients and an understanding of their needs and concerns. You will work along side doctors, advanced practitioners, and other radiographers to support them in examinations and procedures. This is a clinical role which is key to the smooth running of the department

You will be be flexible in your attitude to work as there is a requirement to work out of hours, at weekends and Bank holidays.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Duties to include, but not be limited to:

• Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards
• Undertake duties relevant to the clinical area following achievement of competencies
• Assist to maintain patient safety, confirming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines
• Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care
• Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
• Contribute to maintaining safe, clean and productive environments, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
• Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager
• Maintain and develop own competence
• Process information according to local and national requirements

Person specification

Qualifications and Education

Essential criteria

1. GCSE in English and Mathematics – grade C/4 or above OR Level 2 Functional Literacy & Level 2 numeracy skills
2. NVQ Level 2 Care (to work towards level 3 within 18 months of start date)

Desirable criteria

3. NVQ Level 3 in care
4. Basic IT skills
5. Care Certificare

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

6. Able to demonstrate Health & Safety awareness
7. Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
8. Demonstrates an understanding of the role of a band 3 assistant.

Desirable criteria

9. Evidence of working at Band 2/3 in a caring environment
10. Previous experience working in a healthcare setting
11. Understanding of imaging procedures
