Job Title: Principal Engineer – Process & Technical Safety Role Summary: The Principal Engineer will lead and oversee technical and process safety deliverables across major engineering projects. This role ensures adherence to the highest safety standards and provides mentorship to junior engineers while supporting overall process engineering functions. Key Responsibilities: Lead all safety engineering activities and serve as primary technical contact. Apply relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in process safety. Provide technical leadership on process and safety aspects from concept through commissioning. Ensure plant processes and equipment meet safety requirements. Conduct risk assessments and consequence analysis (gas dispersion, explosion modeling, etc.). Lead and participate in safety workshops (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, etc.). Develop and review key safety documentation (QRA, FRA, Fire Protection Reports, etc.). Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional teams. Ensure compliance with standards (HASAWA, DSEAR, etc.). Optimize safety engineering resource usage and track key performance indicators. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical/Process Engineering. Chartered Engineer status and process safety certification preferred. At least 10 years of experience in oil & gas, hydrocarbon, or similar industries. Proficiency in PHAST, SINTEF, and other modeling tools. Strong analytical skills, initiative, and commitment to safety. Work Model: Hybrid; travel to Teesside and other project sites as needed. International collaboration across multiple regions
