Job Description
Join our team as an Interconnect Engineer and take a key role in the design and development of cable and interconnect systems for advanced defence applications. You will focus on cable design, within the redesign of test jigs, ensuring the delivery of robust, compliant, and high-performance interconnect solutions. Your expertise will be critical in meeting the rigorous demands of the defence sector, where precision, innovation, and compliance are essential.
Location: Crawley
On-site: 5 days per week
Seniority: Mid-Level
Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain SC clearance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design and development of cable and interconnect systems, including the redesign of test jigs.
* Perform cable design activities, ensuring compliance with industry and defence standards.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate interconnect designs into broader system architectures.
* Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and validation of interconnect systems to guarantee reliability and performance.
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring designs meet functional and safety requirements.
* Produce and maintain technical documentation, including cable schematics, test reports, and compliance records.
Qualifications
Required Skills
* Proven experience in cable and interconnect design, including test jig development.
* Strong understanding of interconnect engineering principles and defence/aerospace standards.
* Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar) for cable and harness design.
* Experience in testing, troubleshooting, and validating interconnect systems.
* Ability to interpret and apply technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or relevant technical Military background with equivalent hands-on experience.
Desirable Skills
* Experience with high-reliability or safety-critical interconnect systems.
* Knowledge of EMC/EMI compliance testing and mitigation techniques.
* Familiarity with defence or aerospace industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD, DO-160).
* Exposure to system integration and lifecycle management processes.
