About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in English to join our Maths and English department at The Bedford College Group. As a Lecturer, you will play an important role in the success of our students through:
* Preparing, delivering, and assessing English courses; supporting and guiding students; managing learning; contributing to curriculum development; participating in marketing activities.
* Teaching effectively across programmes; preparing schemes of work; developing and implementing learning materials; assessing students' work; monitoring and recording progress; conducting tutorials; preparing reports; extending learning through vocational opportunities.
* Ensuring engaging learning environments; upholding Student Code of Conduct; overseeing tutors and assistants; completing administrative tasks; participating in course team meetings; implementing quality processes.
* Participating in marketing activities; interviewing potential students; contributing to curriculum development; developing new courses; promoting and safeguarding welfare; carrying out additional duties as requested.
* Promoting safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety; participating in training and development.
About You
* Qualifications: Relevant degree or level 5 qualification in English; Certificate in Education/PGCE or willingness to achieve; GCSE Maths and English (grades A-C).
* Experience: Recent teaching and assessing GCSE English; knowledge of current developments; working with diverse backgrounds; promoting equality and diversity; high performance in previous roles; achieving team objectives.
* Skills: Excellent classroom management; organisational skills; working in line with values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty); positive working relationships; strong interpersonal and influencing skills; promoting College's reputation; effective communication.
* Commitment: Supporting high-quality learning; using Microsoft Office confidently; completing administrative tasks; continuous skill and knowledge updates; awareness of health and safety requirements.
* Personal Qualities: Flexible approach; safeguarding responsibilities; forming appropriate relationships and personal boundaries; willingness to work at all locations; current driving licence and access to a vehicle.
