The role
As a Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer, you’ll play a vital leadership role in delivering high‑integrity engineering solutions within highly regulated, safety‑critical nuclear environments. Your expertise will directly support safe plant operations, regulatory compliance, and long‑term infrastructure resilience.
Day-to-day
* Deliver electrical, control and instrumentation engineering solutions across complex nuclear and defence projects
* Produce high‑quality EC&I deliverables including control philosophies, requirements specifications, interlock definitions and software management plans
* Manage engineers and designers to ensure accurate, compliant and timely production of technical outputs
* Support hazard studies, design risk assessments and regulatory assurance activities
* Work closely with project managers, safety teams, customers and supply chain partners to integrate solutions successfully
This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week, based at any of our main Cavendish locations including Glasgow, Leicester, Bristol, Newbury, Warrington. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a minimum of working 3 days on site.
Essential experience of the Senior EC&I Engineer
* Strong experience delivering EC&I engineering within regulated or safety‑critical environments
* Proven background working with control systems, automation or instrumentation solutions
* Experience supporting nuclear, defence, energy or comparable highly regulated industries
* Ability to manage technical deliverables and support multidisciplinary project teams
* Clear understanding of safety, quality and compliance obligations
Qualifications for the Senior EC&I Engineer
* Degree‑qualified in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline
* Chartered Engineer status or progress toward professional registration is advantageous
Security Clearance
