Managing Consultant – Asset Management, Property Services & Compliance
MMP Consultancy is currently seeking a Fire Safety Project Manager on behalf of a Local Authority in southeast London. This is a temporary ongoing position for 3 months subject to possible extension. Candidates can expect a day rate of £350pd inside of IR35. Candidates will be able to work from home however this will fluctuate week on week depending on business needs. The client needs an experienced Project Manager who can lead multi‑disciplinary teams, control significant budgets and deliver safe, high‑quality outcomes for residents.
Responsibilities
* Lead borough‑wide and area‑based capital works programmes (c. £25m), including fire safety and major refurbishment schemes
* Manage consultants, contractors and in‑house teams to deliver on time, to budget and to a high standard
* Take ownership of financial control, performance management and quality assurance across multiple projects
* Lead resident consultation and manage customer expectations throughout delivery
* Ensure full compliance with Building Safety legislation, Fire Safety Act and wider H&S duties
* Produce clear reports for senior management, members and forums
Requirements
* Strong background delivering housing capital works, ideally fire safety and high‑rise projects
* Solid knowledge of Building Safety Act, housing legislation and leaseholder consultation
* Proven experience managing large budgets and multi‑disciplinary teams
* Degree in a construction‑related discipline (MRICS / MCIOB desirable)
* Confident communicator who can lead stakeholders and residents with authority
* Ability to plan and manage all finance and budgets to meet performance targets
* Ability to actively contribute to innovation and to take analytical approaches to solving complex and challenging problems
* Experience of using digital technology to deliver and improve services
* Experience of working in complex and diverse organisations
* Ability to cope well with and overcome ambiguity through use of effective change management approaches
* Ability to work effectively and credibly with diverse and complex stakeholders
* Highly-developed advocacy, negotiation and presentation skills
* A conscientious, enthusiastic, and professional approach to work
Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager
Location: Site‑based with visits to Barking & Basildon
Salary: Competitive package
Working Pattern: 4 days site/office | 1 day WFH optional
Project Value: £75m

About You
* Proven experience as a Managing QS or Commercial Manager on large‑scale residential projects
* Strong background in retrofit, refurbishment, fire safety, or major residential works
* Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and contract management skills
* Comfortable working predominantly on site and across multiple offices
* Able to mobilise quickly and thrive in a fast‑paced, live project environment
* Comfortable working both in the office and on operational sites
