The Role
To provide technical lead and support to all areas relating to IT Network Infrastructure. You will lead and support the IT Network Infrastructure in providing technical input for the implementation and support of all network equipment and systems within the remit of IT Infrastructure. The role will involve working together with colleagues and users in NHSL and other external agencies to provide technical lead and support for all network hardware and software.
Additional Information Specific to the Role
1. Lead on new technical network improvements and implementations
2. Support team members on network related tasks
3. Troubleshoot issues relating to network systems or equipment which affects the provision of IT services
4. Configure and install networking equipment for use on NHS Lanarkshire premises
5. Implement, Monitor and maintain information within the network monitoring systems such as Solarwinds, Thousand eyes
6. Contribute to Project activities within and out with Digital where there is an IT networking element identified
7. Support the network elements of the real time communications platform across NHS Lanarkshire
8. Monitor, Maintain and implement Structured cabling infrastructure and Cabinets
9. Participate in out of hours works and on call duties

What we'll need you to bring
10. Be educated to degree level in an IT discipline and extensive experience in a network support role
11. The ability to demonstrate a high level of technical networking and oral communication skills
12. Experience of supporting multi-vendor networks and be familiar with prevailing network standards in the telecommunications industry, particularly with regard to Cisco technology solutions
13. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to work within a team environment are essential to the success of the post holder
14. Ability to work within a team environment
15. Must be a car owner and have a full, valid UK/EU/EEA drivers licence to enable the successful dispensation of the duties related to the post

It would be great if you also have
16. IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) qualified
17. Experience in monitoring platforms e.g. SolarWinds
18. Firewall experience
19. Proven track record in the regular use of Cisco and networking products in order to produce reports for service monitoring purposes
20. Ability to support the administrative and service delivery aspects of a high pressure data comms support service covering around 14,000 end users
21. Familiar with Infoblox, Fortinet and F5 products
22. Knowledge of investigative and troubleshooting methodologies
23. Working knowledge of NHS Scotland data communications platforms, policies and regulatory guidance
24. Customer service orientation
25. Workload planning skills
26. with ability to handle multiple tasks
27. Performance management skills
28. Highly motivated and self-directed
