Risk & Compliance Officer Location: High Wycombe Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 Contract: Full-time, permanent About Us Our client is a well-established private practice law firm known for delivering exceptional legal services across a broad range of practice areas. As it continues to grow, it is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Risk & Compliance Officer to support the firm in meeting its regulatory obligations and maintaining the highest professional standards. The Role Reporting to the COLP/COFA and the Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the firm operates in line with the SRA Standards and Regulations, AML legislation and internal risk management frameworks. This is a hands-on role involving daily compliance operations, monitoring and providing practical guidance to fee earners and support staff. Key Responsibilities Conduct and review AML/KYC checks, including CDD and EDD, source of funds and risk assessments Manage the file opening process and support fee earners with compliance requirements Perform conflicts and anti-bribery checks and maintain relevant compliance registers Assist with the monitoring of the firm's risk management policies, including breach reporting and complaints handling Support the implementation of CQS, Lexcel and other quality assurance frameworks Carry out regular file audits, identify issues and ensure corrective actions are followed through Assist in preparing internal and external compliance reports Provide guidance and support to staff on compliance queries Contribute to the development and delivery of compliance training across the firm Support the firm's regulatory returns and liaison with relevant regulatory bodies when needed About You Experience in a similar compliance or risk role within a law firm or professional services environment Strong understanding of SRA regulations, AML requirements and the regulatory environment for Solicitors Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions Strong communication skills and confidence in advising colleagues at all levels Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously where required Familiarity with CQS or Lexcel standards (desirable but not essential) What's On Offer?
