Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Scheme Support Officer to join our well-established team at our Clarewood Project in Neath, on a part-time (19.5 hrs), permanent basis. Clarewood is a Supported Housing project that provides up to 10 spacious, self-contained flats for young people aged 16-25. In this rewarding role, you will be able to build on your existing experience in supporting people with adding further skills and knowledge, to help complex young people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness to gain independence.
Responsibilities
* Applying for appropriate permanent accommodation
* Facilitating activities that could include basic DIY, independent living skills learning, craft making, group discussions, gardening, decorating, games, quizzes, fitness and film nights
* Connecting with external partners in Neath including social services and youth services that offer support and engagement for young people
* Administrative tasks, keeping and updating accurate records
* Supporting with access to ICT, employment, education and volunteering opportunities
* Acting as a first point of contact and a role model for the young people we support
* Building positive relationships to help young people transition into independent living and providing advice and practical support
* Engaging our young people in a range of activities and workshops; you will be flexible and enthusiastic with awareness of the lifestyles of the young people we support
* Driver’s licence and access to a car with appropriate business cover is desirable
Our clients may have led traumatic lives and as a result could display a range of complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol and substance misuse, poor mental health or learning difficulties, and may have experienced barriers to careers/education. The scheme provides 24-hour support for young people to build and develop their skills and confidence. Part of your role will also include sleep-in shifts at the scheme, where you will be provided with a secluded area with access to bathroom and kitchen facilities.

* Competitive salary of £24,531.00 FTE (£12.75 per hr) + £62.64 sleep-in allowance

* Work pattern: 6-week rolling rota, including lone working, evenings, weekends and at least one sleep-in per week; £62.64 payment for each sleep-in
