2026 Graduate Programme – Planning Consultancy
WSP is recruiting graduates for the 2026 Graduate Programme in Planning Consultancy & Infrastructure Planning, based in Birmingham or Leeds.
About the Role
Our Planning Consultancy teams work on some of the largest transformational projects across the UK, collaborating with communities to deliver sustainable development. You will guide clients through the planning process from initial site appraisals to securing consents and supporting construction. Your work will span residential, education, healthcare, logistics, industrial, retail and defence, and we also advise on international projects.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
* Varied workload across multiple sectors
* Undertaking planning appraisals and drafting planning documents
* Project managing and leading smaller projects from day one
* Working within teams on larger projects
* Managing environmental teams
* Submitting and managing planning applications and appeals
* Managing project budgets
Graduate Development Programme
Our two‑year programme includes core business and professional skills training, career development workshops, mentoring for professional registration and a breadth of on‑the‑job experience.
What We Are Looking For
* Graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s degree (RTPI accredited) in a relevant subject
* Completed application form in full with all questions answered, followed by an online skill enabler assessment
* Available to start work in September 2026
* A passion for planning & consulting, and a desire for building environment, infrastructure, places and the economy
* Enthusiasm for creativity and a drive to solve problems
* Willingness to inspire others and share new ideas
