Building Control Surveyor/Registered Building Control Inspector Class 2A - Basildon Borough Council
Basildon Borough Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Building Control Surveyor to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Basildon, with a closing date of 4th May 2025.

The successful candidate will primarily enforce Building Regulations and supervise building projects within the borough. Responsibilities include:
* Carrying out building control duties within a designated area.
* Negotiating and advising developers, applicants, and stakeholders.
* Staying updated with legislative changes.
* Conducting plan appraisals for compliance.
* Interacting with architects, contractors, and builders.
Requirements include:
* Experience in plan checks and onsite inspections.
* Effective communication and IT skills.
* Knowledge of building regulations and legislation, including the Building Act 1984, Building Regulations, and the Building Safety Act 2022.
* Recognized qualification in building control and membership or progression towards membership in a professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE, CIOB).
* Minimum registration with the Building Safety Regulator as a 2A (Domestic) Registered Building Inspector, working towards 2B and above.
* Ability to work independently within policies, knowing when to seek assistance.
* Experience with LABC QMS systems and operational standards.
