We provide tailored education for students aged 7-18 with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Our mission is to create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive!
About Us
At Selwyn Hall School, we believe in the power of individualized attention. With small class sizes of just 4-6 pupils, we ensure that each student receives the support they need to succeed. Our expansive private grounds offer a therapeutic setting, complete with:
* Outdoor learning experiences, including a forest school and sensory trail
* A multi-use sports pitch and play equipment
* Fully refurbished classrooms for science, computing, music, drama, and Art/DT

Your Role
As a vital member of our team, you will:
* Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six
* Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons
* Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with staff to meet their needs
* Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips
* Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation
* Build positive relationships with pupils to drive engagement and learning outcomes
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
* A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics
* Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
* Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting
* Confidence to take on additional responsibilities (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, School Yoga)
* Skills in behavior management and techniques
* A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn
* Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check
