Are you an experienced Enterprise Architect with a passion for data management and transformation?
HMRC is seeking a specialist to deliver essential preparatory work for the Strategic Resource (SR) Programme, supporting key projects and programmes across HMRC. The aim is to support the business in better planning, faster decision‑making and more joined‑up service design.
You must also be familiar with our Metadata tools (ABACUS, EDC, and AXON). This role is critical to enabling HMRC's transformation agenda and will involve working closely with architecture teams to develop and implement enterprise data discovery approaches.

The insights and approaches developed during this engagement will be invaluable for the successful management of future commercial contracts and the long‑term capability of HMRC’s teams.
* 6-month contract (subject to review at year end, in line with the delivery plan)
* Based in the UK, with potential for remote work and occasional travel as required
Key Responsibilities
* Provide enterprise architectural advice and develop a collaborative, consistent enterprise data discovery approach across programmes, working with ETG and Regimes.
* Review and update current blueprints to ensure efficient capture of data discovery insights and metadata, supporting the development of an AI‑ready knowledge platform.
* Enable improved data reuse, policy alignment, and operational insight across HMRC.
* Deliver essential preparatory work prior to the execution of a commercial contract, ensuring standards and blueprints are fit for purpose.
* Facilitate structured handover and skills transfer to permanent HMRC staff.
* Support strategic control and proactive management of supplier activity during the contract phase.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Demonstrable experience in enterprise architecture, ideally within large‑scale transformation programmes.
* Strong background in data management, enterprise data discovery, and blueprint development.
* Ability to collaborate across multiple programmes and teams, driving consistency and best practice.
* Experience supporting the implementation of AI‑enabled solutions and knowledge platforms.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience working with UK Government or public sector transformation initiatives.
* Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and standards.
* Understanding of commercial contract management and supplier oversight in a government context.
