Lead Engineer – Automotive Seating
We are seeking an experienced automotive seating systems engineer with strong design and development expertise to lead the design of seat components and complete seat packaging studies.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design of seat components such as cushion frame, back frame, headrest, seat plastic, recliners, and track.
* Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documentation, lead design FMEA studies and GD&T.
* Perform complete seat packaging studies and support vehicle integration, packaging, and assembly processes.
* Manage APQP deliverables and support delivery of phased PPAP for owned components.
* Manage the design verification plan; liaise with Core Testing and Validation teams to ensure compliance with risk prevention and detection controls.
* Complete and release seating system, subsystem, and detail designs.
* Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design.
* Collaborate with seating suppliers and support overall vehicle development milestones, prototype, and production build events.
* Execute feasibility studies, assess A‑class surface, and define craftsmanship targets.
* Conduct DFMEA, DVP, DFA, and DFM; prepare Design Validation Plans.
* Meet project deliverables commitments and timelines.
* Design automotive component parts in CATIA V5/V6.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 6–12 years of experience in automotive seating system and subsystem design & development.
* Thorough knowledge of automotive seating system design and development concepts, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
* Experience in master sections, vehicle integration, vehicle packaging, concept creation, and assembly processes of seat parts.
* Working knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements for seating systems.
* Good knowledge of seating system and component manufacturing processes and ability to define seating comfort and comfort targets.
* Proficiency in performing complete seat packaging studies and feasibility studies.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Experience delivering production‑intent design and drawings.
* Experience in CAD tools such as CATIA V5/V6 and 3DEXPERIENCE.
* Experience in Agile Methodologies is an advantage.
