A new exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivating, team player to join ward 8&10’s team as a band 5 staff nurse nurse. Ward 8&10 is a 33 bedded wards at Good Hope Hospital, we are a diabetes and endocrinology specialist ward with acute medical patients. Ward 8&10 cares for patients with a variety of complex medical, diabetic and endocrine conditions. The ward works in partnership with various members of the multidisciplinary, such as; diabetes clinical nurse specialists, speech and language therapists, dieticians and many more to ensure that each patient has the best possible outcome.

Both areas were lucky enough to have clinical educators on hand to support and encourage your continuing professional development to help you gain the necessary skills to be a confident and competent band 5s. A structured professional development programme will be supported by the senior sister, education team and fellow sisters. Furthermore you will have the opportunity to advance in all aspects of your nursing knowledge.
Main duties of the job
You will regularly take charge of the practise setting and take responsibility for ensuring the coordination and direct delivery of a high standard of holistic, patient centred care by assessing nursing care and health education needs. You will practice autonomously and be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate person centred evidence based nursing that respects and maintains dignity and human rights.
You will support the development and implementation of audits and quality and risk management initiatives. You will use a broad range of techniques to set and monitor standards of clinical practice, audit, and research and teaching in order to continually improve care standards, patient and staff experience.
You will be professionally accountable for the upkeep of standards and professional practice as set by the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines.
You will be required to teach and act as a facilitator / mentor / assessor / preceptor to nursing students and junior staff. You will be a link nurse for one of the many key areas in nursing in which you will be responsible for developing tools / boards to aid in staff education as well as attending key training dates.
As a Band 5 staff Nurse you will be expected to act as role model to the junior nursing team in the delivery of a consistent high standards of nursing practice.
