An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Therapy Team at Hillingdon Hospital for a part‑time band 6 occupational therapist. The therapy department is the third largest staff group within the Trust and is widely respected.
As an Occupational Therapist you will play an essential part in the assessment, treatment and discharge of patients. You will work closely with patients, their support network and multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve a positive outcome.
You will primarily be based on the Trust's Acute Medical Unit but may cover Older Adult and Neurology wards as the service demands.
Main duties of the job
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
To complete the OT process on the Acute Medical Unit, with a complex and varied caseload. You may also be asked to work elsewhere within the Trust and be part of the 7‑day service currently in development.
Clinical
* Comprehensive physical and cognitive assessment of needs
* Provide individualised and specialised treatment to patients on your caseload, covering a variety of physical, cognitive and psychological conditions
* Lead and facilitate patient discharges, arranging packages of care, providing equipment and community support
* Maintain the OT process by liaising with relatives, caregivers and NOKs, providing updates on patient progress and discharge plans
* Plan and implement individual and/or group interventions
* Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment to ensure the effectiveness of intervention
Person Specification
* Previous experience of working in the NHS
* Extensive post‑registration experience of OT
* Experience and evidence of successfully working within an MDT team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Evidence of understanding of theory and practice delivery of OT on AMU
* Evidence of CARES values
* Post‑graduate courses in relevant fields
* Supervisory experience
* Evidence of training, presentation and facilitation skills
* Evidence of additional responsibilities and leadership skills
* Evidence of good organisational skills and using initiative
* Evidence of resilience and ability to work under pressure
