At Johnsons Leisure, we provide premium outdoor leisure products to customers across the UK. With over 170 employees and a clear growth strategy, we are entering the next stage of our development - strengthening our systems, controls and leadership capability to support continued expansion.
We are now seeking a capable, forward-thinking Finance Manager to take ownership of day-to-day finance operations while helping modernise and elevate our finance function.
This is an opportunity for someone who is not only technically strong and reliable, but also dynamic, commercially aware, and motivated to grow within a progressive business.
The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will lead the finance operations team and ensure the smooth, accurate and timely running of all core financial processes. Alongside this, you will play an active role in improving systems, controls and team capability as the business evolves.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading, managing and developing the finance team, strengthening confidence and capability
* Overseeing all day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and control
* Reviewing and enhancing financial policies, procedures and internal controls
* Supporting month-end reporting and management information
* Working closely with operations and inventory teams to ensure accurate stock reporting and cost control
* Managing compliance with international trade regulations, customs duties and import/export processes
* Monitoring purchasing costs and expenditure trends, identifying areas for improvement
* Championing process improvement through better use of systems and technology
* Ensuring invoices are processed, approved and paid in line with agreed terms
This role offers real scope to shape and improve the function, not simply maintain it.
What We're Looking For
Essential
* Proven experience managing or supervising a finance/accounts team
* Strong operational finance experience within a growing or fast-moving business
* A hands-on, organised and reliable approach
* Strong understanding of stock control, purchasing and cost management
* Experience with international trade regulations and customs processes
* Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
* Professional, honest and dependable
Highly Desirable
* A dynamic and energetic approach to problem-solving
* Strong systems and IT capability, with an interest in improving processes through technology
* A proactive mindset — someone who identifies opportunities rather than waiting for instruction
* Ambition to grow and take on increasing responsibility over time
* The ability to positively influence and develop others
* A collaborative working style and strong communication skills
* The confidence to bring fresh ideas and contribute beyond core responsibilities
ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT qualifications are welcome but not essential. We value capability, leadership potential, and cultural fit equally.
Why Join Johnsons Leisure?
* A stable, established UK business with a clear strategic direction
* A genuine opportunity to influence and shape the finance function
* A role with scope for development and long-term progression
* A collaborative leadership team committed to growth and improvement
