Job Title: Finance Manager

Job Type: Full-Time Overview: 40k -55k per annum
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of our growing construction business.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and is comfortable managing both strategic and day-to-day financial tasks.
The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, managing invoices, controlling budgets, and supporting project accounting. Key Responsibilities:
- Invoice Management:
- Raise accurate client invoices in line with contract milestones and completed works. o
- Process supplier and subcontractor invoices, ensuring timely payment and accurate records.
- Reconcile invoices with delivery notes and purchase orders. *
- Financial Reporting & Compliance: o
- Prepare monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasts. o
- Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. o Coordinate with external accountants/auditors for year-end accounts.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in developing project budgets and monitoring financial performance. o
- Track project costs and identify variances.
- Payroll and Staff Expenses:
- Oversee payroll preparation and submission. o Manage staff expenses and ensure correct reimbursement.
- Banking and Cash Management:
- Manage day-to-day banking operations and cash flow.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor account balances. *
- Financial Systems & Processes:
- Maintain and improve accounting systems and financial procedures. o
Ensure all financial data is recorded accurately in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks).
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a finance role, ideally within the construction or related industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- A relevant finance/accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred. Desirable:
- Familiarity with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) and VAT in construction.
- Experience working in a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) environment.
