Description
The job itself
Beverley Minster C of E Primary School are looking for an individual who is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of children. You will be a key member of our team, working flexibly as part of the teaching support staff to make learning inclusive, effective and exciting to ensure children reach their full potential. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to plan, teach and assess an innovative curriculum so all pupils, including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, may achieve success in line with the school vision, ethos and aims.
The working hours are 31.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday during the school term. Your actual salary will be £21,930.36 per annum, and this is paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. If you are interested in working on a part time basis, please get in touch and we are happy to explore this further with you. This is a permanent position.
Why choose us?
Beverley Minster aims to create a safe, supportive environment where everyone is given the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We believe that learning should be exciting. We also recognise that learning may be hard work that needs persistence and determination but children should be provided with the tools they need to progress regardless of starting point or background.
Our school is a welcoming community where our distinctive Christian ethos promotes a safe, happy, healthy and nurturing environment. Together, we empower children with the confidence, independence and resilience to become life-long learners and to play a positive role in their community.
Within The Education Alliance Multi Academy Trust, there are lots of opportunities for collaboration and also further opportunities to develop and progress. As a trust, we are here to make great schools and happier, stronger communities so that people have better lives. For too long in many schools, staff have been asked to choose between being seen as good at their job and being a good mum, dad, partner, son, daughter or friend. We are doing everything we can to support our staff to balance the demands of their jobs and those at home.
To support this, we:
1. Trust our staff to plan, prepare and assess at the best time for them, allowing them to go off-site in their PPA
2. Have centralised our Behaviour Policy so teachers are freed up from supervising detentions
3. Demand ethical leadership built on professional trust
4. Reject fads and ensure our CPD is evidence-informed and predominantly subject specific
5. Have reduced data collections to twice yearly
6. Do not deploy staff at other Trust schools unless it is at their request
We have removed the following:
7. Performance management objectives and performance-related pay
8. Lesson observations and high stakes, toxic accountability
9. Onerous marking policies
10. Requirements for daily or weekly lesson plans
Above all, we recognise that seeking to remove the number of tasks staff undertake will have little effect on improving work/home balance if this happens within a toxic culture. To support this, we offer training for our leaders to ensure they are able to translate our values into behaviours which are built on the principles of dignity, respect, professionalism and integrity.
What can we offer you?
11. Ethical leadership, professional trust and autonomy and a caring ethos in which everyone is valued and respected.
12. A great programme of CPD and opportunities to collaborate with other teaching professionals across TEAL.
13. Family friendly policies and opportunities for flexible working
14. Well-being support including discounted East Riding gym membership; free annual flu vaccinations; refund of the cost of the annual NHS prescription prepayment certificate; access to a free employee assistance scheme 24/7 with advice on a wide range of practical issues ranging from legal information and consumer issues to specialist counselling.
15. Access to our staff benefits platform which includes big brand discounts and other financial incentives including a cycle to work scheme offering discounted bike purchases
16. Membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about Teaching and Learning and wants to make a positive impact on the lives of Children. You must hold Qualified Teacher Status and have knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of effective teaching and learning, monitoring/ assessment and evaluation.
