Nottingham College
Wellbeing coordinator
Posted: 25 August
Offer description

Being part of Nottingham College means playing a vital part in helping thousands of people reach their potential. Together, we're making a positive difference to our learners, communities, and each other. We’re building better futures, for others and for ourselves.

Here, you'll have the freedom to work in a way that suits you, the support to thrive, and the opportunity to shape your career.

Who we need

We're seeking a passionate, driven individual to join our Apprenticeships Team at Nottingham College — someone who genuinely cares about making a difference in the lives of young people. This is a unique opportunity to work within our Ofsted Outstanding Residential Provision, providing support, guidance, and enrichment to apprentices in a residential setting.

You'll play a vital role in ensuring our apprentices have an exceptional experience, both academically and personally. As our new Wellbeing Coordinator, you'll work alongside our current Wellbeing Coordinator, the Head of Student Experience for Apprenticeships, and the wider Wellbeing team to develop and deliver a vibrant Wellbeing and Enrichment programme.

You’ll engage with apprentices directly in the residential setting, gaining first-hand insight into their experience and helping to shape improvements that make a real difference in their lives.

Key duties of the role include:

1. Champion the Student Experience - ensure apprentices feel supported, valued, and motivated, especially within the residential setting.
2. Translate Feedback into Action - gather and act on apprentices’ feedback from both college and residential environments, driving meaningful improvements.
3. Safeguarding First - act as the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns, providing timely support to keep apprentices safe and supported.
4. Collaborate & Lead - support the cross-College Safeguarding Network, sharing best practice and continuously improving the College's approach for apprenticeships.
5. Enhance Residential Life - actively engage with apprentices in the residential provision, helping create a positive, safe, and enriching environment where every student can thrive.

We're looking for a passionate and dedicated professional committed to delivering the highest standards in student support and wellbeing. You will champion a positive student experience across a diverse, multi-site organisation, inspiring and motivating colleagues while fostering collaborative relationships with partners. You'll approach challenging situations with confidence, using your problem-solving skills to deliver practical, solution-focused outcomes.

Essential Skills & Experience:

* Highly effective organisational and prioritisation skills, ensuring tasks and initiatives are managed efficiently.
* Experience in a safeguarding role, handling complex issues such as abuse, neglect, radicalisation, and CSE.
* Strong knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, statutory requirements, and relevant guidance.
* Proven ability to manage sensitive and complex situations with professionalism and discretion.
* Outstanding communication, negotiation, mediation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people, parents/carers, colleagues, and other professionals.

If you are driven to make a real difference in the lives of students and thrive in a collaborative, supportive environment, we want to hear from you.

Package:

* Competitive salary - £24,285 to £25,335 per annum FTE. (Pro-rata for term time or part-time posts)
* 35 days Annual Leave + 8 Bank Holidays + Opportunity to purchase up to 5 days annual leave
* Access to Local Government Pension Scheme
* Discounts at various stores and services via our Vivup App
* Travel schemes including cycle to work, local transport season tickets, and car salary sacrifice scheme
* Opportunities for professional development including 8 CPD days and our Request to Invest Programme

Our Commitment:

At Nottingham College, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels supported, valued, and understood. We are recognized as a Carer Confident employer, actively supporting staff with caring responsibilities. We are also working towards becoming a Menopause Friendly employer and support mental health through our network of Mental Health First Aiders and Wellness Cafés.

We encourage a culture of compassion and understanding, prioritising wellbeing so colleagues can thrive in their careers. We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments for successful candidates. Nottingham College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of our students, and all staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. Background checks, including employer references and an enhanced DBS check, will be required for this role.
