Job Summary
Following the release of ARRS GP information and funding we are looking for newly qualified (within 2 years and not having had a substantive post), enthusiastic, forward-thinking GP to join Byfield Medical Centre, part of Northamptonshire Rural PCN.
Contract will be based on the BMA contract with 6 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays and (pro rata). One week study leave (pro rata).

Responsibilities
The GP will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract and Enhanced Services objectives, including:
* Share of routine and urgent appointments both face to face and via telephone
* Prescribe as per local and national guidelines
* Share of home visits, routine and emergency
* Time-manage administration: letters, results, tasks, referrals, telephone calls, emails
* Take responsibility for appropriate referrals (following local guidance and good medical practice) and related administration
* Checking and signing share of repeat prescriptions
* Cover for colleagues in exceptional circumstances (e.g., sudden illness) while considering colleagues’ external commitments
* Work with other health and social care providers to ensure a safe, integrated service
* Provide comprehensive assessment, advice and treatment for the registered practice population
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of consultations using EMIS
* Provide clinical support to other staff to achieve high standards of care and QOF/Enhanced Services targets

Job Description and Responsibilities
* Record clear and contemporaneous IT-based consultation notes (EMIS Web)
* Provide safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, individualized patient care within the surgery and in patients’ homes
* Clinically examine and assess patient needs from physiological and psychological perspectives; plan care and refer to other services as needed
* Recognise and perform necessary investigatory procedures (laboratory and radiology)
* Prioritise health problems and intervene in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiating emergency care
* Ensure appropriate follow-up of patients
* Support health promotion and self-care; deliver anticipatory care plans
* Maintain accurate health records; comply with professional codes of conduct
* Independently prescribe within scope and in line with guidelines
* Prepare and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
* Review medications per policies and local/NICE guidelines
* Stay aware of developments in clinical practice and comply with relevant policies and guidelines (prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, QOF)
* Adhere to safeguarding policies for children and adults
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Newly qualified GP (no more than 2 years qualified) with no previous substantive post
* GMC registration and license to practice
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and accurate clinical notes
* Strong IT skills; competent in Microsoft Office, Outlook and ideally EMIS Web
* Effective time management, planning, organizing and prioritising; strong problem solving and analytical skills
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Empathetic, honest, caring, and able to follow clinical policy; understanding of the audit process
* Personal qualities: polite, confident, flexible, motivated, forward-thinking, with integrity and resilience
* Ability to work under pressure and to communicate effectively with patients
* Commitment to ongoing professional development
* Willingness to provide home visits if required
* DBS check; full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle
* Ability to triage, assess and diagnose; process pathology tests and results
* Understanding of evidence-based practice and clinical governance
* Ability to work within own scope of practice and know when to refer
Desirable
* Experience in triage
* Knowledge of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF)
* Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
* Awareness of broader health arena and health-promotion strategies
