This is an exciting opportunity for an HCA to join our happy, friendly team.
We are looking for someone to join our nursing team who can perform General HCA duties. You would also be required to show an interest in caring for our more frail patients, including those who have a learning disability.
You must be able to travel between the two sites.
Main duties of the job
Working within our nursing team, performing general HCA duties including phlebotomy, ECGs, simple dressings and associated tasks. Looking after our frail patients and those who require extra support including mental health and learning disability health checks.
Training will be given to the right candidate.
About us
We are a happy friendly practice with 4 GP partners. Our main surgery is based in Cam and our branch surgery, which includes our dispensary, is based in Uley. Our team consists of GP's, Nurses, Health Care assistants, a pharmacist, a paramedic and dispensary staff. We also have 3 GP assistants and a fully supportive administrative team. We are a teaching practice for medical students and GP trainees and are positive about training our staff for the future.
Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
* Support the Practice nurse with health promotion programmes
* Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
* Facilitate routine BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
* Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
* Carry out BMI checks as directed
* Act as a chaperone as required
* Undertake venepuncture
* Administer flu vaccinations, pneumonia, shingles and B12
* Carry out ECGs as requested
* Urinalysis
* Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
* Provide support during minor operations as requiredEnsure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
* Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
* Undertake Diabetic foot checks
* Undertake Learning Disability Health Checks
* Frailty assessment
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level with a pass in English and Maths or equivalent phlebotomy
* NVQ level 3
Experience
* Experience of phlebotomy
* Experience of working in a team
* Willingness to learn new skills
* Experience of working with vulnerable patients
* Experience of working within a GP
* Experience of surgery working with patients who have a learning disability
* Experience of working with frail patients
* Experience of ECG's
