Job title: Mechanical Design Engineer (Intermediate to Senior considered)
Location: Greater Southampton (Full–time office–based with ad hoc WFH flexibility)
Salary: 40,000 to 45,000 Intermediate, up to 60,000 for Senior
My client, a nationally respected building services consultancy, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in the Greater Southampton area. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with a strong focus on decarbonisation and sustainability.
About the Role:The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects across a variety of sectors. Current and upcoming projects include:
* Decarbonisation schemes for hospitals and public sector estates
* New–build educational facilities
* Healthcare infrastructure upgrades
This role is ideally suited to an Intermediate to Senior level Mechanical Engineer with a passion for sustainable design and a desire to work on technically challenging and meaningful projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design of mechanical systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, and ventilation
* Production of detailed design drawings and specifications
* Collaboration with electrical engineers and other disciplines
* Site visits, surveys, and client meetings
* Supporting junior engineers and contributing to technical development
Requirements:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
* Proven experience in mechanical design within a consultancy environment
* Strong understanding of UK building regulations and CIBSE guidelines
* Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and IES or similar
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
