We are a highly successful outdoor retailer offering quality outdoor clothing and equipment at low prices since 1997. We now have over 400 stores and more than 3000 employees. It’s the teams that make the stores, and we are looking for a passionate, operational, forward-thinking and people-focused Area Manager to lead our teams across the South West region.
Reporting to your Regional Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership of approximately 19 stores, with a focus on maximising store sales and profitability, operational and customer service standards, and building a strong team through motivational leadership.
Responsibilities
* Driving sales to achieve business budget and profit growth
* Establishing and maintaining best practice in customer care
* Building a people development strategy to support succession
* Supporting and coaching improvements in Visual Merchandising to achieve company standard
* Delivering operational compliance across stores
* Liaising between Head Office and stores, fostering relations
* Adhering to company procedures and policy, protecting assets and brand, and partnering with people teams
* Building strong relationships with key Head Office partners to develop a robust strategy
* Recruiting, coaching, developing and managing a high-performing team to Mountain Warehouse standards
* Visiting stores regularly to ensure consistency and drive performance improvements
* Identifying opportunities to grow profit by reducing costs
A typical week
* Driving Key Performance Indicators through Store teams and ensuring stores are commercial for the market
* Analyzing business results and trends, taking action to drive sales and profitability
* Visiting stores and providing clear, supportive actions aligned with business strategy
* Recognising outstanding sales performance across teams
* Developing, sharing and implementing best practice across the area
* Communicating regularly with the Regional Manager and Head Office, highlighting problems and opportunities
* Being an inspirational leader, modelling positive service and management techniques
Skills, knowledge & expertise
* Proven track record in delivering service, sales and profit expectations at field level
* Minimum 2 years of field management experience, preferably in Retail or Service Sector; apparel experience is advantageous
* Proven people management, communication and leadership skills
* Demonstrated ability to manage projects (e.g., opening stores) and handle issues efficiently
