Job Description
The Financial Controller will work closely with the senior leadership team, overseeing all financial operations and providing strategic insight to support firmwide decision‑making. This role requires a hands‑on leader with deep technical expertise, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the ability to refine and strengthen internal controls as the organization scales. Main duties and responsibilities include the following:
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities, including monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close.
2. Review financial statements and develop forecasts to support business planning.
3. Oversee the general ledger, balance sheets, and all related financial documentation.
4. Manage budgeting, financial analysis, and audit preparation.
5. Serve as primary liaison to external auditors and coordinate with third‑party accountants for year‑end tax filings.
6. Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies or imbalances.
7. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.
8. Supervise and mentor 4 accounting staff, delegating work and reviewing performance.
9. Manage client billing cycles in coordination with internal teams.
10. Support accounts receivable collections and cash‑flow monitoring.
11. Review bank accounts daily to ensure accurate and timely transaction recording.
12. Manage firm credit card payments and related reporting.
13. Oversee trust‑related financial activities, including deposits and disbursements.
14. Assist with professional liability and health insurance renewals as needed.
15. Support partners with ad‑hoc financial reporting and analysis requests.
