We are looking for a compassionate, organised, and motivated Social Work Assistant to support a team working with foster carers and children in care. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and dedicated service focused on improving outcomes and providing high-quality support to children and their carers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support qualified social workers in delivering services to foster carers and children in care.
2. Undertake direct work with children and young people, including life story work and participation activities.
3. Assist with placement monitoring and support visits to foster homes.
4. Coordinate and support contact between children and their families.
5. Help organise foster carer training sessions, support groups, and events.
6. Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessments and reports.
7. Liaise with schools, health professionals, and other partner agencies.
8. Promote safeguarding and emotional wellbeing for all children in care.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
1. Experience working with children, young people, or families in a social care or related setting.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Ability to work sensitively and effectively with vulnerable individuals.
4. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
5. Competent IT and record-keeping skills.
6. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
1. A relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Children and Young People).
2. Knowledge of fostering, children in care, or child protection procedures.
3. Be part of a dedicated team making a real difference in children's lives.
