Practice Development Hub - Advanced Practitioner
This is an exciting time to join Barnsley Children and Family Services, who, due to an internal move, are seeking to recruit an Advanced Practitioner to join our Practice Development Hub. This is the perfect opportunity for a forward-thinking, motivated, and dedicated social worker to join us in Barnsley to support teams and practitioners in delivering the very best outcomes for our children and young people.
As part of our commitment to the development of children’s services, we are aspirational for our workforce and ensuring that our staff have the support and training they need to do their job to the very best of their ability. We currently have an opportunity for an Advanced Practitioner who will have a key role in shaping and developing practice, sitting within our Practice Development Hub.
You will not have case-holding responsibility in this role.
You will work with colleagues in the Hub and alongside the Practice Development Manager and Principal Social Worker to develop, drive, and deliver our practice model, continuous professional development, and training offer for children’s social workers and practitioners. In this role, you will:
1. Be a key member of our Social Work Academy and alongside team managers, provide supervision, support, and guidance to Newly Qualified social workers in their Assessed and Supported Year in Practice.
2. Support and assess student social workers on placement in Barnsley and offer support to Practice Educators.
3. Develop and deliver training and development aligned to the Barnsley Stronger Together practice model, to support learning and drive best practice across Children’s Social Care.
4. Work closely with the Quality Assurance Team to ensure that learning from audits is embedded in our training and development.
5. Work with partners to drive multi-agency working and good practice across services.
6. Ensure that staff and teams have the resources and tools to support their professional development.
7. Offer mentoring and support to colleagues.
Who are we looking for?
You will be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
You will have significant post-qualification experience in children’s services, including supervision and mentoring.
You will have a passion for social work and a close connection to frontline practice, with an understanding of the local and national context and how this aligns to workforce development.
You will be confident in developing and delivering training and learning.
You will be able to work autonomously on a number of projects and tasks simultaneously, working to deadlines and demonstrating accountability.
You will be able to represent the authority, engaging actively across the wider partnership and with other stakeholders.
You will have excellent communication and report-writing skills.
