The Hybrid Cloud Manager will work within the Applications Team in ITS, leading a sub‑team of 3 DevOps engineers focused on modernising the way our developers and bioinformaticians deploy applications. This involves building strong internal relationships, both within the IT department and more widely with the teams managing public‑facing bioinformatics services. The role will also oversee the administration of our public cloud estate, ensuring FinOps processes are in place and enabling cost tracking, forecasting and governance across multi‑cloud environments. The Hybrid Cloud Manager is an essential figure in ensuring an efficient balance of on‑premises and cloud resources, and in addition, a key actor in the delivery of one of the key missions of EMBL: Training. You have (Requirements)

* 5+ years IT experience in cloud computing across virtualised environments (VMs, containers, Kubernetes, serverless) on platforms like AWS, GCP, or OpenStack.
* Proven experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
* Strong knowledge of on‑prem infrastructure (servers, storage, networking).
* Experience supporting demanding users (e.g. research/scientific communities).
* Solid Linux expertise (preferably RHEL).
* Relevant cloud certifications (e.g. solutions architecture).
* Experience modernising applications, including multi‑region deployments.
* Skilled in automated, repeatable Linux/cloud service deployments for scientific needs.
* Hands‑on delivery of public cloud training.
* Familiarity with FinOps practices and cost optimisation.
* Able to prioritise tasks, lead technical teams, and represent team work in meetings.
* Prior experience managing small technical teams.

Behaviours
